Please lower the signs There’s a different speech tonight A shot fired in the Memphis sky And our brother’s gone Angry cries Should be calling out for right And the man who shot was white Like when my brother died Filled with hate We are marked with bloody stains That we all must now replace With our brother’s life Through the pain Comes wisdom to embrace From God this awful grace Like our brother tried Please go home Say a prayer for our own While we wait for peace unknown We can sleep tonight

All of the people at the railroad tracks Going and coming back Walking down the brick laid roads, for some time alone Dinner’s there when they get home And I wasn’t there I wasn’t there But it’s in the air when the city talks through mortar and stone Sounds from the buildings, people making things The whole town is tinkering Looking ahead at what the future will bring As if it could bring everything But I wasn’t there And it don’t seem fair that I’m riding here with a field full of grass But there is a spirit here, it’s riding up from the past Ohhhhh, ohhhhh, ohhhhh, keep riding on down the line

Good Health 04:47
When the cost of research Is to find the truth hurts Well, that’s worth a true search For home. I want to live in a place Where I can leave my doors unlocked I don’t have time to spend on anything like culture shock Give me a house in the stars Where I can live all by myself I’ll stay on watch from above And make a toast to my good health But it’s getting cold up here And the fire’s warm down there Do you have some time to share To show me? I want to live in a place Where I can have an open door I’ll walk down Bellefontaine And find just what I’m looking for Give me a house where I Don’t have to live all by myself We’ll make a toast to the stars And thank the Lord for our good health

From the Top 04:05
On the stage there's laughter "Quiet down, talk after. From the top." And they all look up Not the best, but powerful From the chest, it fills the room Oh good God, what a joyful noise And everybody's face When the basses hit the low note that they learned from a page And suddenly the place Is as colorful as everyone in the room And I just Listen closely as the voices fill the space with joyful noises Mr. Harris joins the singing, string, and voices, praises ringing Straining throats bring notes in reach Dissonance and sweet release Oh my, with a song the children preach And I can wonder why My heart fills with a certain kind of grace that I don't know how to receive But I don't have time I'm wasting time trying to think it through And I can only try Try to sing like I'm watching them sing Cause I don't have time I don't have time to let my voice be silent Listen closely to the joyful noise Oh good God, the voices ring From the chest, it fills the room Don't let me be silent

The cherry trees are finally ripe Take some please, they’re tasting alright The way they bleed, reminds me that they’re real Taste and see, go on and have your fill Come inside, but lower your voice Let me see you try, to pay for your choice 20 cents can get you quite a lot Count it out, tell me what you got Cause the world out there won’t stop to care If you can’t find your way But I can try and show you why You can find your way I am not your mother But I can try to love ya With my little candy store I’ll help you find your way Cause the world out there won’t stop to care If you can’t find your way But I can try and show you why You can find your way

My Fire 04:49
I press my face against the glass Lookin at what's below me Sweep up the ashes of the past Grab a ball and get it rolling A fire burns within my heart Much like the one I hated But while it burns from 16 Park The whole world is aglow Buildings crumble in the fire But I can build the buildings higher I look down at what's below me Watch me set the world on fire I once believed that I belonged Right there, just where I started But then my fire came along Showed me the world's uncharted I'll go alone if no one comes But I'll be back to help Oh, we'll set fire to the slums And build our buildings stronger My fire makes the world so bright I'd never seen it all before And I must now become a light My fire makes the world so bright
7.
If I died alone In a place that I called home, Turn my heart to stone, Hold it high and make it known That I Would lie in a grave with just my bones. And you wouldn't know That I didn't dig it on my own Cause I wasn't quite What you thought you needed or right where you wanted So I'd just be quiet You'd call me later when you weren't so tired. But I would rather Be with you, all you ways, all your rules, to the grave If I wasn't all alone I'd stay in the welcome of this place And I'd die With a smile upon my face I won't die alone They'll find a smile when they excavate my bones

Dodge City 03:52
Walk down the street with one eye watching your back Dead on your feet if you go crossing the tracks Trouble is coming, you don't have to go look But you sure can't stand still in Dodge City Oh, the bullets flying Trouble on the way Wyatt Earp can't help you Not today But there's an old man crying Can't you hear him say? "There's no use in dying Not today" From Alabama, he might not talk how you like But talking is easy, if it helps you sleep at night Keep all your papers, he's got plans on his mind Practice makes perfect and there isn't much time He won't always be here, but he will never leave here One day all his praying at night will break down the walls of Dodge City
9.
Of all the words I thought you'd say "I will" Guess all the world's not crazy yet "I will" Just tell me what you want In return for what you've got Cause I don't have a lot But you said, "I have" I asked, "Why have you offered me all that you have?" And would you come again next week? I would And could we talk awhile? I could Ask what's on your mind If you had a bit of time Cause you opened up my eyes to a different reason why You said, "Mine is yours" Now let me offer All that I have Now is all yours This is what I wanted I could not give back Everything you gave But let me try my best To give you all that I have. No, it isn't much But all of it is yours. Everything you said You said right away Didn't even think You just gave away Everything you had I could not explain Everything you gave Everything it meant I could not explain
10.
If your worst so far's not killed me, so far I guess you aren't so bad, I'm fine "Go on back to being alone." "There's work to do, you're fine." I've been traveling around the world, I know There's no place like home You can try to go so far Get away from what you thought was so hard But you're fine If your worst so far's not killed me, so far I guess you aren't so bad, I'm fine And I thought that I had figured it out But I'm fine, I'm more than fine "Come on back to not being alone." Cause I have some work to do And I'll be fine, this place is mine Praise the Lord for what he's given me here We all got reasons to complain, but we're fine
11.
Was there another man who could do what you did? Maybe so Was there another man who should do what you did? I don't know for sure But I know that you have made me yours. Who should we say you are? You gathered all our sons Gave them all their guns And sent them off to war Man can't always see But God will judge your deeds Governor of War Ruthless as you are, you cared for us all Maybe I'm just wrong But I saw a man whose strength, it made me strong Who should we say you are? God only knows who you are. A tyrant in your ways Awful for the sake Of freedom for us all Man can't always see But God will judge your deeds Governor of War

Work of Art 03:41
Find another glass of wine It's free and I'm about to unwind Of all the ways to spend my time I was never one to patronize But damn, would you just look at that Words can't really work it out The reasons why we fall in love But I'm not leaving here alone I don't know what to say I have never felt this way Maybe it's just all the wine But maybe it was time to realize Cause damn, would you just look at that It wasn't why I came here But when I leave it won't be the same here Something hit me in a new way And I'll be back to get you Tuesday I feel my heart changing Because I saw something amazing I have seen a work of art, I understand now I'm sorry for going off and freaking out But damn, would you just look at that

My Finest 03:12
Drinking cream soda at The Goose I bought a pound of bacon and some juice I thought that we could make some breakfast Heard there was a party you could come too Luke's already filling up the truck pool Got a new bathing suit, Got a green bathing suit I'll be headed over soon I'll ride my Finest up to you It's hot but we could wear something nice As long as you can still ride a bike Cause we don't have all day Call me when you're ready I'll be here Spend the last week trying to grow a beard But I think it's time to shave it off I think that it's got to go I'll be headed over soon I'll ride my Finest up to you Please don't think I'm being rude Here's my finest all for you

It seems nice here. How did I even get here? I can't wait to go here. The next book seems kind of hard, but I like my teacher and I think I can do it. I just met a new friend in knitting. She lives up north and I can go to her house for dinner. After recess we are starting to read a book about frogs. You said we could worship even when we learn to read. These aren't only words to you, which makes them even more to me. I hope that mother asks me when I get home to read to her. I know tomorrow my teacher will care. You said we could worship you even when we learn to read. These aren't only words to you, which makes them even more to me.
